Space Heater Exchange

Heat people, not spaces – space heater exchange

Are you a faculty or staff member who uses a space heater in your office? Trade in your functioning space heater for your choice of a cotton flannel throw blanket, an electric blanket, or an electric seat heating pad.

In alignment with the IU Climate Action Plan, the IU Office of Sustainability encourages the avoidance of using personal space heaters on campus. By switching to an alternative, you’ll save energy, minimize fire risk, help HVAC systems to function properly, and stay cozy all winter long! For example, electric blankets use up to 90% less energy than a typical portable electric space heater.
