IUPUI Sustainability Now Hiring a Graphic Design Intern

If you are seeking a paid on-campus or virtual internship doing work that has real-world impact, and you want to have fun while doing it - well look no further! The IUPUI Office of Sustainability is currently seeking applicants for a Graphic Design Intern position.

The Graphic Design Intern is responsible for creating visual elements used to report and promote programs, initiatives, upcoming events, and other activities related to IUPUI Sustainability. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and/or After Effects) is required. Applicants must be freshman or sophomore status.

Get Amped Up: IUPUI Energy Challenge Will Kick Off In October 
That's right - the 2020 Energy Challenge is starting THIS month and will run from Monday, October 26 - Friday, November 6 ! For two action-packed weeks, we will challenge the campus community to reduce their energy consumption through simple actions that can be taken from campus or home. This year, two campus buildings will face off in the head to head competition: the 2019 reigning champs, University Tower, and North Hall. BUT all of campus will be invited to participate in the challenge - from campus and from home! You can participate by making an energy reduction pledge, engaging with our social media challenges for a chance to win prizes, and of course - taking actions to save energy wherever you are!  Learn more about the IUPUI Energy Challenge.

General Election: Indiana Voter Registration Deadline Approaching
There are FIVE DAYS left to register to vote for the 2020 general election! Those who are eligible to vote will have until end of day Monday, October 5 to make sure they are registered. Early in-person voting starts Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Those eligible for absentee voting must request their mail-in ballot by Thursday, October 22.

Visit the Indiana Voter Portal to register (or make sure you're registered), learn about the candidates who will be on the ballot, and apply to vote by mail if eligible. You should also check out this IUPUI Voter Information Guide, where you can find everything you need to know to cast your ballot this year.

Grab a Meal On Us: Paws' Express is Back in Stock 
Paws' Express, the prepackaged on-the-go meal service offered at Paws' Pantry, is back in stock! These meals are lovingly prepared every week by the Campus Kitchen at IUPUI student leaders using nutritious and delicious rescued food. Depending on availability, you can find meat-based, vegetarian and even vegan meals and snacks. 

Paws' Pantry is found in Campus Center Room 130, and their services are available to IUPUI students, faculty and staff. Clients may pick up Paws' Express prepackaged meals, as well as food and hygiene products, by either scheduling an appointment or during walk-in hours. Request for Applications: Indiana Sustainability Development Program Accepting Partner Applications
Starting in early October, the Indiana Sustainability Development Program will begin seeking partner applications for the summer of 2021! Municipalities, nonprofits, and corporations from across the state of Indiana may apply for the opportunity to host an IU undergraduate or graduate student, to lend their expertise working on sustainability projects. Student interns (known as ISDP externs) would work full-time for 10-12 weeks over the summer of 2021. Learn how to become an ISDP partner.

Energy Insecurity in the Time of COVID-19
Energy insecurity is a growing public health threat among low-income populations in the US. In this installment of the Environmental Resilience Institute's Speaker Series, O'Neill Professors Dr. Sanya Carley and David Konisky will report results from original surveys of U.S. and Indiana samples to evaluate the prevalence of energy insecurity, which factors contribute to it, and how the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated it. Midwest Climate Summit Think Tank 
To accelerate climate action in the short term, the Midwest Climate Summit is structured as a two-part FREE event, with a series of virtual keynotes and workshops in Fall 2020 (the Think Tank) that will set the stage for a recognition of the new commitments and increased ambition of Summit partner organizations in Spring 2021 (the Summit).

The Fall 2020 Think Tank program is organized around topic areas: Science & Research; Teaching & Education; Climate Action; and Outreach & Engagement. The Summit will seek to actively engage students in the main Summit sessions, as well as three student-led and student-focused elements – the Climate Stories Contest, the Student System Conference, and the Virtual Job and Networking Fair. Learn more and register to attend.
